Friends of the Poor

St. Alphonsus Friends of the Poor is a ministry that offers assistance to the needs of our community. The committee consists of parish volunteers that meet on a weekly basis on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Help is provided for utilities, rent, rooms for the homeless, and food. Requestors must complete an application, provide valid picture identification, and supporting documentation of bills. The committee conducts a face to face interview to ensure applicant is eligible to receive aid. Assistance is provided once per twelve month period. Additionally we have a food pantry which is stocked with donations from our parishioners, both monetary and food. Food drives are held twice a year, one in the fall, (Thanksgiving), and one in the spring (Easter). Food bags are distributed to individuals also on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. For more information contact the parish office by phone (901) 476-8140, or by email office@stalphonsuscovington.org
